FLAAR evaluates 3d scanners in three ranges: good entry level (ZCorp), mid-range, and high-end. The Steinbichler would be a good choice for a high-end portable 3D scanner. Over the coming months we will decide which other scanner FLAAR will evaluate. For our first evaluation (November 2009 through May 2010) we issued about 41 different reports.
These reports are read by universities, by Fortune 500 companies, and by other individuals and companies that seek an independent recommendation on what 3D scanner to consider.
FLAAR Reports on digital imaging hardware and software are also read by all US government agencies and US government federal Bureaus, plus FLAAR is consultant to other key US government entities for digital imaging products.
FLAAR has been dedicated to evaluating and researching digital imaging technologies for over 12 years. Dr Hellmuth has been a beta tester for the 48-megapixel Betterlight (tri-liner scanning camera), the 80-megapixel Cruse camera, several Phase One digital backs plus Nikon and Canon DSLR digital cameras.
FLAAR Reports staff will be evaluating and reviewing top of the line 3d software that can build a 3d model or be able to do 3d modeling and 3d scanner hardware like the handheld scanner: CREAFORM VIUscan, or Z Corporation ZScanner 700CX, or Z Corporation ZScanner 700, or long range and mind range laser scanner like the: FARO Photon Laser Scanner, Three Rivers 3D Lasercode LC-1 scanner, or the digitizer: Konica Minolta Range 7 and Rapidform Software and Polyworks software.
