New handheld portable long range 3d laser scanner that can capture full 3d body scans, architectural and archaeological 3d scenes just in minutes PDF Print E-mail

One company that always captures our attention at the RAPID Conference and Exposition is the Direct Dimensions booth where they present new technologies on 3d laser scanners for long range and small range capturing technologies. This year they presented the Shape Shot 3d capturing system and the Mantis Vision's F5 Handheld 3d Imager, this is a fast 3d acquisition system that can capture long range objects in minutes. There is no need of target preparation to scan a scene and it is handheld portable device. It is a perfect device to do body scans and it can go up to scan car size object or even entire scene just in minutes. It is an ideal 3d scanner for architectural, industrial plant & facilities for 3d data acquisition.

Specifications:

  • Weight: Camera 1.7 Kg; UMPC 1.0kg

  • 3D Resolution: 50,000 points/frame @ 10 frames/second

  • Continuous acquisition time: 1 hour.

  • Eye Safety: Class 1m

This type of scanner can be used for 3d scanning Maya-architecture and archeological sites in Central America for archeology research. An post processing for 3d renders of the architectural sites
